Helping to make art more accessible.

After launching a new site for Arts Access Victoria last year, Thick continued to work with their team to implement ARTfinder.

ARTfinder is designed with the NDIS in mind, helping end users and their support workers find suitable programs and events run by local communities. The program is the first of it’s kind in Australia, with no other state wide disability arts organisation providing consolidated information in this format.

Arts Finder Launch2

The new ARTfinder interface allows users to search for art programs based on their personal interests and accessibility factors. As access to suitable transport is a key issue for disabled people, ARTfinder makes heavy use of a map interface to show the distance between services and nearby public transport options. Users can also filter their results based on the type of art, funding and other options.

The Arts Access Victoria team worked to source and consolidate program information from service providers, and then engaged Thick to build the functionality with an easy to use, accessible interface to the data that was responsive and works seamlessly on all devices.

We worked rapidly and with a lean approach, developing initial sketches of the interface and working alongside the Arts Access Victoria team in a series of user testing workshops to roll out the functionality using existing design elements from our pattern library.
